American Woman Gang-Raped in India

An american woman was hitchhiking her way to get to her guesthouse on Monday night. Thats when three men offered to drop her off, when she took the lift they took her to an isolated area and raped her. Gang-raping has become a very popular crime in India, ever since the incident that took place in December of the medical student who was gang-raped on the bus. The police have caught three suspects in regards to Monday nights incident.

Roaming around in India seems to become a big threat to females. There have been several cases of gang-raping in India that it seems to have become a tread. This is shameful towards the country and their people. People like these have caused nothing but fear, shame, and disrespect towards the country's citizens.

Bus Driver Fired Over Facebook Post

A student told Johnny Cook, a middle school bus driver, that the student was refused lunch because they were 40 cents short. Cook wrote about it on Facebook and the story went viral. The superintendent said that they story wasn't said correctly. Cook was asked to remove the post but he refused to, so he was asked to leave his job. Cook has no regrets over the post. He feels that he has made a change and has pride in his post. Other schools have been reported to do the same with sending children back if they aren't able to afford there lunch.

Johnny Cook has done the right thing by keeping to his word and not removing his post. Food is important for every growing child, if they don't have enough money, the school should put it on a tab.

Fake Military Checkpoint Officers Kill 14

14 people were killed by gunmen pretending to be a military checkpoint in Iraq. 10 of the people were border guards. The gunmen stopped the victims, who were driving two vehicles, at a fake security checkpoint. The case is still being investigated by Iraqi security forces.

This case is so sad, there are so many incidents that happen in Iraq everyday. It saddening to know how horrible the crime rate in that country is.

Afghan Massacre by US Soldier

On March 11, 2012, US soldier Robert Bales murdered 16 Afghan citizens. He says that they isn't a good reason for why he has committed such an act. That night he wandered two villages, he first killed a woman with a firearm, then the rest either by burning or shooting them. The victims included women and children. Several of the 17 victims were shot in the head. The family members of the victims are wanting Bales to be executed.

This is horrible, soldiers are not sent to be killing for no reason, they are there for protecting. Bales didn't have any right or reason to do such a horrendous thing.

Bangladesh Workers Drink Contaminated Water

Up to 600 Bangladesh worker have fallen sick due to contaminated water in the garment factory. They were taken to different hospitals and claimed to have stomach cramps and vomiting. A police officer has said the water may have been poisoned with pesticides. The UK said they would donate 18m euros for safety and skills training the low-skilled garment workers in Bangladesh. They will also provide a team to inspect the country's buildings.

The country of Bangladesh has suffered a lot this year, especially the worker. In April a builing collapsed killing and injuring many and now the contaminated water. This country needs help and training. It is amazing how the UK is helping out. By the UK helping out it shows how different parts of the world care about other countries.

B.C. driver who killed dad, punched teen son gets 2 years

Back in July 2010, Allan Simpson Wood, 39, from White Rock, was driving twice his speeding limit and collided with Bryan McCron. Wood collided head on with McCron, killing Bryan and injuring Bryan's 17-year-old son Connor. When Connor McCron was trying to call 911 at the scene to save his father life Allan was punching Connor so he couldn't make the call. Allan has received a two year sentence as well as 3 months for violently punching Connor. Bryan's family is satisfied with the charges. His sister, Vicki Marci, said they don't have much control but are accepting it, even though it wont bring her brother back.

I personally think that Allan Woods should receive a higher sentence. It was his fault for his reckless driving but over that he was abusing Bryan McCron's son over calling 911 and trying to save his fathers life. He shouldn't have tried to prevent his son from calling 911, I guess it was out of fear.

Dogs Smuggled and Killed into Vietnam

Dogs are being smuggled from Northeast Thailand to restaurants in Vietnam. The poor animals are put into tight wired baskets bunched together, with 20 dogs or more per cage. During the trip to the restaurant, some animals are dying of suffocation. They are stuffed on the bus for days until they reach their destination. "Obviously when you've got dogs stacked on top of each other they start biting each other because they are so uncomfortable, any kind of movement then the dog next to the one that's being crushed is going to bite back," said Tuan Bendixsen, director of Animals Asia Foundation Vietnam, a Hanoi-based animal welfare group. Later on, the dogs die a painful death either by having their throats cut open or being bludgeoned to death. Sometimes the dogs are even skinned to death. When the dogs see the others die painfully in front of them, they know that they are up next.

The article is very, very sad to hear. It is inhumane in all ways possible. In this case, dogs do not deserve to be taken, put into wired cages, killed, and the eaten. Dogs are known to be our loyal companions, this article just proves how inhumane the human race could be.

Man Put 6-Week-Old Child into Freezer

On Saturday afternoon, Tyler Deutsch, 25, put his 6-week-old baby girl in the freezer because she wouldn't stop crying. Deutsch's girlfriend had left him to take care of their daughter for a few hours. When she came back, she witnessed him pulling the baby girl out of the ice cube box in the freezer. She immediately called 911. When the baby reached the hospital she barley made it, with a temperature of 84 degrees. The child did not only have a high fever but also had several broken bones, so they suspected more could have happened to the child other than placing her in the freezer. Neighbours are disgusted by Tyler's behaviour, they have always thought of him to be more on the odd and quiet side. Tyler is now being accused of attempt to murder.

This news is absolutely heartbreaking, we would think that parents would do anything to protect their children. In this case this child's own father put her in harm. His reasoning was that the baby girl wouldn't stop crying but what more could be expected from the child. It seems like the father should  get some testing done because this is not normal behaviour at all.

Forgotten Prisoner becomes Multimillionaire for his Suffering

Steven Slevin was locked up for drunk driving in 2005 a perfectly healthy man and came out 2 years later with several health problems in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This was caused by the negligence of the jailers that were supposed to keep take care of the prisoners. He was isolated from all the other inmates at the Dona Ana County which caused post-traumatic stress. Slevin was separated from other inmates because of his case of mental illness, but that just made it worse. He came out of jail with a long beard, bed sores, bad teeth, and weight lose. The county apologized to Steven and claims they have made improvements since the past seven years with the detention center staffing, training, facilities and procedures. Steven continues to have several medical issues and is currently fighting lung cancer. Due to these circumstances he was put into he was awarded $15.5 million dollars.

Although prisoners are put in jail for punishment purposes, it doesn't mean that should get some attention. It was completely irresponsible as to how the county took care of Steven Slevin, leading him to several health issues, mentally and physically.

Nurse Refuses to Perform CPR on Elderly Woman which Results in Death

In Bakersfield, California a nurse refused to give CPR to Lorraine Bayless, an 87 year old woman, who died by collapsing and being unable to breath. The nurse refused to perform CPR because she claimed the staff member were not allowed to, it was policy. In such health emergencies, staff members are supposed to call for medical aid and wait with the individual until help is there. The dispatcher on the phone asked the nurse to find help from someone else if she did not have the authority but the nurse said there was no one there. Lorraine Bayless was declared dead at Mercy Southwest Hospital later. Surprisingly, Bayless' daughter was satisfied with the situation that took place.

I am very disappointed with this situation. No law should restrict the safety of someones life. A nurses job is to save life's and help people, not to watch someone die painfully. The policy of this senior community home should be changed immediately, this situation could occur in the future at any time and should not be handle like it was. What is the point of having a senior living home if there is no medical help or assistance? Another point that shocked me was the fact that Lorraine's daughter was okay with what had happened. All senior homes should have help on site or nurses that are able to perform medical help.
